This donut caterpillar toy is made by the wonderful 'Barefoot' of Sri Lanka. Each toy is individually hand-made by one person from start to finish in an array of fantastic, bright and cheerful colours. The human touch in the weaving process gives character and durability to each toy. For this reason, no two are the same and it's important to note that the photograph here gives you a great idea of the bright colour combinations, but is not necessarily a representation of the exact caterpillar you will receive. The caterpillar is approx 40cm long, with a bit of an extra 'tail' where there's a knot in the fabric to hold the rings on, He has an approx circumferance of 28cm. There are sixteen removeable rings along his tail. These rings, provide extra play value and help with dexterity and counting skills. He can be hung up by any one of his rings, or maybe he can crawl along a bookshelf! He's a friendly chap with a cheerful smile, really bright and fun!
Barefoot pride themselves in being a completely ethical and environmentally friendly company. All toys are made from hand-dyed cotton, using eco-friendly Swiss dyes, and dried in the sun. Stuffed toys have kapok pulp fillings, so all fibres are natural, and WASHABLE! The women that create these little characters work from small rural workshops and no child labour is used. Employees are given a decent wage and benefits.
